In its six years of existence the Calcutta Debating Circle has evolved its calendar around a bilingual commitment.
· The Festival of the Spoken Word is in English: it comprises debating in various formats so as to make it more interesting with each passing year; panel discussions on various issues of contemporary interest; workshops and interactive sessions helmed by Team CDC and the visitors to our annual Festival. Until now The Festival of the Spoken Word has been held in the mild winters of Kolkata and is a much-anticipated part of the City’s calendar.
· CDC is also committed towards the growth of our rich vernacular culture spanning many languages. As a first step towards reaffirming its focus, a Bengali debate comprising teams from India and Bangladesh was hosted at Kolkata. Given the stupendous response, there is every reason to continue this trend in the years to come.
